APC Reaffirms 60/40 Leadership Formula in Kano State Amid Calls for Unity

The All Progressives Congress (APC) has restated its commitment to a 60/40 leadership-sharing formula in Kano State, reserving 60 percent of key party positions for existing members and 40 percent for new defectors. National Chairman Professor Nentawe Yilwatda conveyed this policy during a strategic visit to Kano State Governor Abba Yusuf, underscoring the party’s approach to integrating newcomers while maintaining internal cohesion.

The meeting, held at the Government House, focused on strengthening the APC’s structure in one of Nigeria’s most politically significant states. According to a statement from Governor Yusuf’s spokesperson, Sanusi Dawakin-Tofa, Yilwatda praised the “impressive” turnout at a recent state party gathering, describing it as evidence of growing momentum for the APC in Kano. He attributed this unity to the collective efforts of senior party figures, specifically commending Alhaji Yusuf Gawuna and Senator Barau Jibrin for their support of Governor Yusuf’s governance agenda. The National Chairman also acknowledged the “invaluable” contributions of former governor Dr. Abdullahi Ganduje to the party’s development.

In response, Governor Yusuf expressed gratitude for the national leadership’s visit and reiterated his administration’s dedication to collaborating with the APC to advance unity and development across Kano. He affirmed his commitment to supporting President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda at the state level, aligning Kano’s policies with the federal government’s socio-economic priorities.
