PDP Tops Kuje Prison Poll with 22 of 46 Valid Votes

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has secured a narrow lead in results announced from Polling Unit 04, located at the Prison Command in Kuje Area Council of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), according to electoral officials and media reports.

The official count for the unit, one of many voting stations across Nigeria’s capital territory, recorded a total of 46 valid votes. The PDP received 22 votes, while the All Progressives Congress (APC) garnered 17 votes. The African Democratic Congress (ADC) polled five votes, completing the tally for this specific location.

The results were declared publicly at the polling unit in the presence of accredited party agents and independent observers, adhering to standard electoral procedures for transparent result announcement at the most fundamental level of voting. This on-the-spot declaration is a key component of Nigeria’s electoral system, allowing for immediate verification and documentation before results are escalated to higher collation centres.

Polling units are the foundational blocks of Nigeria’s presidential and National Assembly elections. The outcome from each individual unit feeds into wider Local Government Area (LGA) totals, which then contribute to the aggregate result for the entire FCT. Kuje Area Council is one of six area councils that constitute the Federal Capital Territory, a critical electoral battleground as it encompasses Abuja, the national capital.

The FCT’s results are closely monitored nationally due to its status as the seat of government and its diverse demographic. The final state result for the FCT will be determined only after all results from its numerous polling units are collated and certified by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) at the territory’s principal collation centre. This process is ongoing across the country, with final national outcomes pending the compilation of results from all 176,846 polling units.

The conduct at this polling unit, with party agents and observers present, reflects the broader emphasis on transparency during the result declaration phase. The final certificate of return for the FCT will be issued by INEC once the collation process is complete and any necessary complaints are addressed. These results from Kuje form a small but integral part of the comprehensive picture that will define the electoral outcome for Nigeria’s capital territory.
