Free JAMB Forms for 300 Students: Ikorodu Entrepreneur

An entrepreneur in Lagos State, Nigeria, has sponsored the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) examination forms for over 300 indigent students, addressing a key financial barrier to higher education access.

Prince Segun Shonubi, from Ikorodu, Lagos, funded the initiative to provide free Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) application forms. The presentation, held on Monday, united students, parents, and community leaders. Shonubi stated that national development is intrinsically linked to youth education, and private citizens must complement government efforts in youth empowerment, particularly in educational advancement.

The intervention directly eases the significant financial burden of JAMB registration fees for struggling families. During the event, beneficiaries and parents expressed gratitude and renewed optimism, describing the gesture as timely amid prevailing economic challenges. Many parents noted prior uncertainty about affording the fees, making the donation an unexpected relief.

Community leaders praised Shonubi’s action as exemplary responsible citizenship and strategic grassroots impact. They noted that supporting over 300 students simultaneously represents a substantial investment in human capital development. Education advocates highlighted the far-reaching potential, as each student aided could become a future professional or contributor to society.

Speaking on his motivation, Shonubi emphasized education as a powerful tool for personal and community transformation. “Our young people carry the future of this community in their hands,” he said. “When financial constraints threaten to limit their dreams, we must step in. This is not just about paying for forms; it is about restoring confidence and keeping hope alive. The JAMB fee is often a significant hurdle that can delay or halt a student’s journey. This intervention removes that barrier.”

The initiative underscores the role of private individuals in driving local development by creating educational opportunity. As the sponsored students prepare for their examinations, stakeholders share hope that this access will translate into strong academic performance and long-term success, ultimately contributing to Ikorodu’s development. The act reinforces the principle that collective responsibility is vital for nurturing the next generation.
