The Nigeria Women Football League (NWFL) has named its Best XI for the first round of the 2025/26 season, highlighting standout performers from across the top flight.
Remo Stars Ladies lead the selections with three players recognised for their early-season contributions. Eberechukwu Eleka, Hannafi Ibrahim, and Nkiruka Obioma all earned places in the team of the round.
Defending champions Rivers Angels are represented by two players. Striker Abasiofon Uwah, who currently tops the league’s scoring chart with seven goals, and midfielder Ramatalahi Kareem both made the cut. Uwah and Kareem have combined for 12 goals between them so far this campaign.
Bayelsa Queens have two players in the lineup: Kindness Ifeanyi and Blessing Ilivieda. The list is completed by Atume Doosur of Edo Queens, Winner David from Abia Angels, and Ayatsea Hembafan of Nasarawa Amazons.
In the coaching recognition, Rivers Angels head coach Tosan Blankson was voted Manager of the Round for his team’s performance in the opening phase.
The NWFL’s Best XI initiative highlights individual excellence within the league’s competitive structure, now in its 13th season as Nigeria’s premier women’s club competition. The announcement follows the completion of the first round of fixtures, setting a benchmark for performance as the season progresses. The selected players and coach will be keen to maintain their form in the upcoming second round, as the race for the title and individual accolades intensifies.
