Paris FC manager Antoine Kombouaré has stressed the need for winger Moses Simon to produce more decisive contributions as the Ligue 1 club battles to avoid relegation.
Simon, 30, joined Paris FC from FC Nantes last summer but has struggled for consistency. Speaking ahead of the weekend’s match against Le Havre AC, Kombouaré noted a visible uptick in Simon’s form and confidence since his arrival three weeks ago. “Moses has regained his confidence, he has the legs, he’s capable of repeating efforts,” the manager said. However, he was unequivocal about the next step: “Now he needs to be effective, to be able to create goals or score goals himself, that’s what we expect from him.”
Kombouaré revealed he addressed Simon’s earlier poor performances directly, telling the player his displays were “unacceptable.” While acknowledging Simon’s explanations about adjusting to a new environment and rebuilding confidence, the manager emphasized personal accountability. “You can say what you want, but you play first and foremost for yourself, for your family,” Kombouaré stated.
Their shared history at Nantes adds context to the current challenge. Kombouaré reminded Simon of the trust shown by Paris FC’s management, based on his proven ability, and stressed the need for him to become a vital squad member. Simon’s statistics this season reflect the struggle: three goals and two assists in 23 league matches.
