Ekiti State’s former legislators have launched a new chapter of the National Forum of Former Legislators (NFFL), pledging to leverage their governance experience to support President Bola Tinubu’s re-election campaign and Governor Biodun Oyebanji’s second-term bid.
The inauguration ceremony, held at Lady Jibowu Hall in Ado-Ekiti, brought together past lawmakers from the National Assembly, state House of Assembly, and local councils. The event was officiated by the Forum’s National Coordinator, Hon. Raphael Nnanna Igbokwe, representing Convener and Chief of Staff to the President, Rt. Hon. Femi Gbajabiamila.
In a communique issued after the event, members committed to using their legislative and governance expertise to provide strategic advisory support aimed at improving service delivery across government levels. The Forum also resolved to mobilise grassroots backing for Governor Oyebanji, citing his developmental achievements and dedication to the state’s progress.
Dr. Ifeoluwa Arowosoge, General Coordinator of the Ekiti State Chapter, emphasised that the initiative would give former legislators a renewed sense of purpose and enable them to contribute meaningfully to the state’s growth. Former House of Representatives member and Advisory Council member, Congressman Bimbo Daramola, urged members to work collectively in advancing democratic values in Ekiti and Nigeria.
The Secretary to the State Government, Professor Habbibat Adubiaro, and the Chief of Staff to the Governor, Mr. Oyeniyi Adebayo, commended the Forum’s support for the state leadership and assured that Governor Oyebanji would continue prioritising development.
Gbajabiamila, in a message delivered by Igbokwe, described the NFFL as a “permanent reservoir of experience and expertise” for national development and citizen mobilisation. The Ekiti launch marks a significant step in consolidating the Forum’s role as a platform for democratic consolidation and governance enhancement in Nigeria.
