APC Chieftain Urges Peace Ahead of Osun August 15 Election

All Progressives Congress chieftain Olatunbosun Oyintiloye has urged party members and leaders in Osun State not to be discouraged by the outcome of Saturday’s governorship election, framing the result as an opportunity to consolidate the party’s position ahead of future contests.

Oyintiloye, a former lawmaker, made the appeal on Monday while addressing journalists in Osogbo. He said the election outcome should not be viewed solely as a victory or defeat but as a moment for the APC to assess its strengths, identify areas requiring improvement, and deepen its engagement with residents at the grassroots level.

The former legislator called on party faithful to remain united, disciplined and focused, arguing that the experience should be used to strengthen internal cohesion and mobilisation efforts across the state’s 30 local government areas.

Oyintiloye commended President Bola Tinubu for his intervention and support before and during the election, describing the gesture as a demonstration of leadership and commitment to the party’s growth in Osun. He said Tinubu successfully balanced his role as APC leader with his responsibilities as president, conduct he described as consistent with democratic principles.

“The President’s intervention renewed confidence among members of the Osun APC and strengthened the morale of the party’s various organs and structures across the state,” Oyintiloye said.

He noted that the APC secured more than 444,000 votes despite being the opposition party in Osun, a performance he said proves the party remains firmly established with a strong political structure capable of producing an even stronger outing in the 2027 general Elections.

Oyintiloye also expressed appreciation for former Osun State governor and current Minister of Marine and Blue Economy, Adegboyega Oyetola, citing his steadfastness and continued commitment to the APC. He further acknowledged the contributions of James Faleke and APC National Secretary Ajibola Basiru to the party’s efforts.

The former lawmaker said the sacrifices of party leaders, stakeholders, candidates, members and supporters had strengthened the APC ahead of future contests. He urged members across all local government areas to remain calm, united and committed.

“Our responsibility now is to learn from the outcome, remain united and prepare for the future,” Oyintiloye said.
