Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola has urged Chelsea to give Graham Potter more time to improve his team. He made the plea after City’s 4‑0 FA Cup win over Chelsea on Sunday, which was the second defeat for Potter’s side in four days. Chelsea’s recent form has been worrying: they have won only one of their last seven matches in all competitions and sit 10th in the Premier League. The club has also been knocked out of both the FA Cup and the League Cup, intensifying calls for Potter’s dismissal.
In response to these challenges, Guardiola stressed the need for patience with managers. “I’d say to Todd Boehly, give Graham Potter time. Give him time. All the managers need time, and he is right. I know at big clubs results are important, but give him time,” he said. He praised Potter’s previous work at Brighton as “outstanding” and reiterated that every manager requires time to implement their vision. Reflecting on his own experience, Guardiola added, “In Barcelona, I didn’t need two seasons because I had [Lionel] Messi there.”
