MAU Yola Mourns as Deputy VC Passes Away

The Modibbo Adama University of Technology in Yola has been mourning as it loses its Deputy Vice-Chancellor in charge of Academics, Professor Mohammed Musa Malgwi.

According to a statement released by the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Abdullahi Liman Tukur, Professor Malgwi died unexpectedly while on official duty in Abuja on 18th May 2023.

Before his sudden demise, he had served the university in various capacities, including being the Dean of, the Faculty of Life Sciences, and the School of Postgraduate Studies.

The university’s statement also disclosed that the family will announce the burial arrangements for Malgwi soon. Professor Malgwi’s death shocked many in the university community and beyond. A source revealed that he had led a delegation to appreciate prominent attendees at MAU Yola’s 27th Convocation held on Saturday, May 13th. He was described by many to be passionate and committed to his work as a scholar and academic.

Professor Malgwi’s death drew many reactions on social media, with one Umar Yobe expressing his grief on Facebook: “Prof. Mohammed Musa Malgwi is no more. This world is nothing. Just last week, he was trolling me about Arsenal’s defeat on Facebook. May your soul rest in peace.”
