Governor Adeleke Appoints Chief Oyebode Aderonke Mary as New Iyaloja General of Osogbo

Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, has appointed Chief Oyebode Aderonke Mary as the new Iyaloja General of Osogbo. The appointment, which was approved by the governor, was made public in a statement signed by his spokesperson, Olawale Rasheed on Thursday.

The governor described the new Iyaloja General as a strong leader of businesswomen in Osun State, with an outstanding record of contributing immensely to the growth and development of commerce. According to Adeleke, her appointment was based on a sense of responsibility and confidence in her ability to lead women in commerce towards the collective prosperity of the state.

The inauguration of the new Iyaloja General is scheduled to take place next week.

This appointment brings an end to the tenure of Chief Hawawu Adesinmade as the previous Iyaloja General and Iyalode of Osogboland. Adesinmade had held the position during the administrations of Rauf Aregbesola and Adegboyega Oyetola, both of the All Progressives Congress (APC).

However, many critics of the previous administration viewed the office as a political appointment. They argued that it was abnormal for Adesinmade, who was also a traditional title holder and leader of women in Osogboland, to occupy the position.
