Tony Blair promises support for Tinubu’s incoming administration as he visits Nigeria

Former British Prime Minister, Tony Blair, has visited Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, the President-elect of Nigeria, to pledge his support for the incoming administration and offer the assistance of his Tony Blair Institute for Global Change in prioritizing goals and delivery. Blair met with Tinubu at the Defence House in Abuja on Tuesday, acknowledging the intertwined nature of key areas of security, economy, agriculture, and power, and expressing his optimism that investment in Nigeria would spur economic development under the incoming administration.

In return, Tinubu expressed appreciation for Blair’s offer to work with his administration, emphasizing the importance of tackling investment challenges and the need for social investment against poverty. He also promised to provide a nurturing environment that will encourage investors and open doors of opportunities for Nigerians.

Other top officials present at the meeting include the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Femi Gbajabiamila; Vice President-elect Kashim Shettima; former Economic and Financial Crimes Commission Chairman, Nuhu Ribadu; senator representing Lagos East Senatorial District, Adetokunbo Abiru and executive secretary, National Sugar Development Council, Zacch Adedeji.
