Benue Governor denies hating President Buhari over Fulani attacks

Benue State Governor, Samuel Ortom, has refuted claims that he hates President Muhammadu Buhari because of persistent armed Fulani attacks in the state.

The governor disclosed this during an appearance on Arise Television’s Morning News, stating that he was not the most suitable candidate for the job but was made governor by God in 2015 and 2019.

Ortom went ahead to clarify that criticizing the president’s administration constructively does not mean that he detests Buhari. According to him, “I don’t hate Buhari, we love each other, I was the first governor he took to South Africa when he became president. The issue is just that of Fulani herdsmen causing trouble, and I would continue to agitate.’’

With regard to the alarming rate of Fulani attacks in Benue, Ortom attributed the problem to the activities of ‘’Fulani herdsmen causing trouble,’’ and vowed to continue advocating that the federal government takes urgent action to curb the menace.

Finally, the governor eulogized former President Shehu Shagari for his exceptional leadership during his tenure in office, stating that Benue State has written his name in gold.
