Peseiro’s Future Hangs in the Balance as NFF Considers Pay Cut

The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) is contemplating asking Super Eagles head coach, Jose Peseiro, to take a significant pay cut in order to continue leading the national team.

Peseiro’s current contract is set to expire at the end of this month, leaving his future with the team uncertain.

Currently earning $70,000 per month, it remains unclear whether the NFF will retain the services of the Portuguese coach. However, if Peseiro is offered a new contract, it is expected that his salary will be reduced.

Should the NFF decide to part ways with Peseiro, they are already considering local replacements, with Emmanuel Amunike and Finidi George emerging as the frontrunners for the role.

Appointed as the Super Eagles head coach in May 2022, Peseiro successfully guided the team to qualification for the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations. This was achieved after a thrilling 3-2 victory against Sierra Leone on Sunday.
