Alawe Commends Federal Government’s Establishment of College of Education in Ilawe-Ekiti

In a commendable move, His Royal Majesty, Oba Adebanji Ajibade Alabi, AFUNTADE 1, the Alawe of Ilawe Ekiti, has expressed his appreciation to the Federal Government for establishing a Federal College of Education in Ilawe Ekiti.

The Alawe conveyed his gratitude to the government during a formal announcement of the institution’s establishment at his palace today. He noted that the presence of the college is a positive development for Ilawe and emphasizes the federal presence in the state of Ekiti.

Highlighting the significance of the college, the Oba emphasized that it will play a crucial role in training and producing high-quality teachers not only for Ekiti State but also for the entire nation. He revealed that the push for a higher institution in Ilawe Ekiti began in 2016, with numerous requests made to the Federal Government, which were strongly supported by patriotic Ilawe indigenes.

The Alawe assured the public that all necessary arrangements have been made to provide a conducive academic environment for the newly established Federal College of Education. Furthermore, he announced the formation of a ten-member committee that will oversee a seamless take-off of the institution.

The Federal Government has already appointed a Provost for the new College of Education. According to a document from the Federal Ministry of Education, the tenure of Dr. Ajigbade Ikuejube as the pioneer Provost has officially commenced.

Dr. Ikuejube, who was previously serving as the Acting Provost of the Adeyemi College of Education, Ondo, has extensive experience in academia. His remarkable career includes positions such as Vice-Dean, Dean, and Chairman of the Committee of Deans at the Adeyemi College of Education. He has also authored over 80 publications, solidifying his expertise in the field.

The Alawe of Ilawe Ekiti took the opportunity to connect with Dr. Ikuejube, expressing his well wishes for a successful tenure as the pioneer Provost. Oba Alabi also assured Dr. Ikuejube of the community’s unwavering support in the upcoming challenges.
