Electricity tariff increment looms as NERC confirms applications for rate review

The Federal Government said the 11 electricity distribution companies have applied for tariff increments.

The Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission, NERC, disclosed this in a notice posted on its website on Friday.

Recall that there have been indications of a possible electricity tariff hike.

NERC, in the notice, called on stakeholders, Nigerians, to comment on the rate review applications by the DisCos.

Meanwhile, NERC said the tariff review is coming on the heels of the need to reflect the macroeconomic parameters and other factors affecting the quality of service, operations and sustainability of DisCos.

“Accordingly, the commission hereby invites the general public for comments on the rate review applications by the distribution licensees,” it stated.
