PDP NWC appoints Taraba Gov chairman of Bayelsa governorship campaign council

The National Working Committee (NWC) of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has appointed Governor Agbu Kefas of Taraba State as the chairman of the Bayelsa State National Campaign Council.

The appointment was contained in a statement issued on Sunday to journalists in Jalingo, the capital of Taraba, by the Chief Press Secretary to the state governor, Yusuf Sanda.

Kefas, according to the statement, will lead the 122-member team to the state ahead of the governorship election slated for November 11 this year.

The move, according to the statement, is geared at mobilising support for the reelection campaign of Governor Douye Diri of Bayelsa State in the forthcoming governorship election in the state.

“This important national assignment is in recognition of the sterling leadership qualities and democratic credentials of Dr Agbu Kefas, which have been applauded at home and abroad,” the statement avowed.

The Campaign Council, according to the statement, will be inaugurated on Wednesday, August 2, 2023, at the national secretariat of the party in Abuja.

While Governor Diri will be flying the PDP flag in the forthcoming governorship election in Bayelsa, Timipre Sylva, the main opposition candidate, will be contesting on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
