41 Fighters Killed as Boko Haram and ISWAP Clash in Borno

Reports indicate that a fierce confrontation between rival terror factions Boko Haram and the Islamic State of West African Province (ISWAP) in northeastern Nigeria resulted in the deaths of at least 41 fighters. The clash occurred on Wednesday and involved loyalists of Boko Haram leader Shekau and the Bakoura Buduma-led faction of ISWAP.

Zagazola Makama, a renowned counter-insurgency expert and security analyst in the Lake Chad region, shared the information via his social media handle. According to Makama, ISWAP militants arrived in multiple canoes to launch an assault on Boko Haram in the Duguri area of Kukawa Local Government Area.

This bloody encounter claimed the lives of approximately 41 fighters, including high-ranking commanders from both groups. A source revealed, “ISWAP terrorists dealt a heavy blow to Boko Haram, resulting in the deaths of many of their commanders.”

The list of deceased commanders included Modu Kayi, Abbah Musa, Isa Muhammed, Ibrahim Ali, Kanai Zakariya, Bula Salam, Isuhu Alhaji Umaru, Dogo Salman, Abdulrahman Malam Musa, and others.

Clashes between Boko Haram and ISWAP have become increasingly frequent and intense in recent times.
