Alleged INEC Officials Caught with Pre-Recorded Result Sheets in Kogi Guber Election

Reports have surfaced alleging that some officials of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) in Kogi State were discovered with pre-recorded result sheets on election day.

Concerns were raised by an accredited observer from YIAGA Africa regarding the widespread existence of pre-filled result sheets in PU 020, Eika/Ohizenyi, Okehi LGA of the state. Similar irregularities were also reportedly observed in PU 004, Eni Ward of Ogori/Magongo Local Government Area.

YIAGA Africa called on INEC to promptly investigate and address the situation in order to preserve the integrity of the electoral process. In a social media post, the observer group urged INEC to take swift action, stating, “Dear @inecnigeria, we received reports of pre-filled result sheets discovered in PU 004, Eni Ward of Ogori/Magongo in Kogi state before commencement of voting. Kindly investigate and address this issue promptly to safeguard the integrity of the process.”

Furthermore, Dino Melaye, the candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), voiced alarm over the alleged pre-filling of all result sheets. Melaye urged his agents and voters in the state to reject the irregularity and protest until the allegedly compromised INEC officials provided blank result sheets.
