UCL: Ex-Real Madrid player, Karanka advises Arsenal on how to beat Ancelotti’s side

Former Real Madrid star Aitor Karanka has suggested that Arsenal must avoid the mistakes made by Chelsea and Atletico Madrid in order to beat Carlo Ancelotti’s side.

Karanka believes Arsenal need to convert their chances and not allow the LaLiga champions to remain within touching distance during the match.

Arsenal will host Real Madrid in the Champions League quarter-final first leg on Tuesday night at the Emirates.

Speaking to The Mirror, Karanka said: “I think Arsenal have a chance, but if you ask me who is the favourite, then I would say Madrid.

“But also, it is now in the minds of opponents, and now it will be in the minds of Arsenal.

“It has been Chelsea, PSG, and also Atletico Madrid this year — because I think Atletico were better, they had the chance to finish it. But if you allow Madrid to survive, then you have problems!”

Karanka, who played for Real Madrid from 1997 to 2002, won three UEFA Champions League titles.
