Ekiti APC leaders, stakeholders reaffirm support for Tinubu, Oyebanji’s second term

The Ekiti State Chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has reaffirmed its endorsement of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Governor Biodun Oyebanji for a second term in office. The decision was taken at a meeting of party leaders and stakeholders held at the country home of the late General Adeyinka Adebayo in Iyin‑Ekiti. Attendees included former governors Chief Niyi Adebayo and Dr. Kayode Fayemi, Governor Oyebanji and his deputy Monisade Afuye, Senate Leader Senator Opeyemi Bamidele, and Speaker of the Ekiti State House of Assembly Adeoye Aribasoye. The gathering aimed to solidify the party’s strength in the state and secure a collective commitment to success in upcoming elections.

During the session, Senator Bamidele moved a motion to reaffirm President Tinubu’s candidacy, which Representative Olusola Fatoba seconded. Speaker Aribasoye moved a separate motion to endorse Governor Oyebanji, seconded by Representative Bose Olowookere. Both motions were ratified unanimously by voice vote. Former Governors Adebayo and Fayemi stressed the importance of party members working together to ensure victory in the forthcoming polls. Dr. Fayemi praised the delegates for their support and urged them to mobilize grassroots backing for Governor Oyebanji’s re‑election, expressing optimism that the governor could break the state’s pattern of one‑term governors.

Governor Oyebanji reiterated his commitment to inclusivity and cohesion among party stakeholders, noting that the primary election would lay the foundation for the 2026 governorship and 2027 presidential contests. He called on party members to view themselves as one large family and to collaborate toward a general‑election win. The meeting also reviewed the party’s recent activities and reinforced unity ahead of future contests.

APC Ekiti State Chairman Olusola Elesin disclosed that the party’s secretariat project had received support from Governor Oyebanji and other caucus leaders, a development expected to boost the party’s performance in the governorship election. The dual endorsement of President Tinubu and Governor Oyebanji marks a significant development in Ekiti’s political landscape as the APC seeks to maintain its stronghold in the region. With the primary election approaching, the party is poised to strengthen its unity and work toward a decisive victory in the general election.
