Miss Universe 2025: Contestants stage walkout after organiser humiliates Miss Mexico

A controversy erupted at the Miss Universe 2025 pre‑pageant ceremony in Thailand when several contestants staged a walkout in solidarity with Miss Mexico, Fatima Bosch. The incident followed remarks by Nawat Itsaragrisil, an official from the host nation, who allegedly called Bosch “dumb” for not posting promotional content on her social‑media page. Bosch objected to the comment, and the situation escalated when Itsaragrisil summoned security and threatened to disqualify any contestants who supported her.

In response, Bosch left the ceremony, and a number of other contestants followed her, demonstrating their support. A video of Bosch speaking outside the venue quickly went viral on social media. In the clip she described Itsaragrisil’s actions as “disrespectful” and “undermining” to women, while emphasizing that her respect for the Thai people and culture remained unchanged. “As a country, you have all my respect. I truly love Thailand. I respect all of you. You are amazing people. But what your director did is not respectful,” she said.

The Miss Universe organization has not yet commented on the incident. The pre‑pageant ceremony is a precursor to the main event, scheduled to take place in the coming days. The controversy has raised questions about the treatment of contestants and the organization’s handling of the situation, sparking a broader conversation about women’s empowerment and the importance of respectful communication. As an international event that promotes cultural exchange and understanding, Miss Universe commands a large global following, and the incident has generated significant interest and concern among fans and supporters. It remains to be seen how the organization will address the controversy and ensure a smooth continuation of the pageant.
