President Bola Tinubu has appointed Kaduna State Governor Uba Sani as the Renewed Hope Ambassador and Deputy Director-General for outreach, engagement, and mobilisation for the All Progressives Congress (APC). The appointment, which takes immediate effect, was announced in a State House press release on February 17, 2026.
The statement, signed by the President’s Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, said the appointment recognises Governor Sani’s leadership qualities and organisational capacity. In the newly created role, Governor Sani will work closely with the Director-General of the Renewed Hope Ambassador initiative and the APC’s national leadership, particularly the party’s National Chairman. His mandate is to ensure harmony, inclusiveness, and strategic coordination across the party’s mobilisation and engagement structures at all levels.
President Tinubu, who is also the national leader of the APC, charged the governor with galvanising nationwide support for the party and promoting its programmes and policies. A key function will be publicising the administration’s milestones and achievements to strengthen public confidence and reinforce the “Renewed Hope” message across Nigeria.
In a letter of appointment, President Tinubu underscored the role’s strategic importance ahead of the 2027 general elections. “The overall objective of your appointment is to ensure that the entire citizenry is aware of, understands, and ultimately supports our party and its candidates at all levels for broad national acceptance in the 2027 election,” the President wrote. He added that preparation is critical to achieving this outcome and that Governor Sani’s leadership will be central to guiding the process effectively and strategically.
Political observers interpret the appointment as a significant step in the APC’s early preparations for the next electoral cycle. The move signals a focused effort to consolidate grassroots mobilisation and strengthen internal coordination as the ruling party positions itself for future contests. Governor Sani’s profile as a two-term governor in a key northern state is seen as pivotal for broadening the party’s appeal and organisational depth nationally. The creation of the Deputy Director-General post for outreach highlights the APC’s priority on structured, nationwide engagement to maintain its political majority.
