Abiodun: APC FCT Win Endorses Tinubu’s Renewed Hope for 2027

The Governor of Ogun State and Chairman of the Southern Governors’ Forum, Dapo Abiodun, has commended the All Progressives Congress (APC) for its performance in the recent area council elections in Nigeria’s Federal Capital Territory (FCT).

The area council polls were held on Saturday, February 21, across the six area councils that make up the FCT. In a statement released from Abeokuta on Sunday, Governor Abiodun described the party’s results as a demonstration of broad public acceptance of the APC’s platform and leadership.

According to the statement, the outcome serves as a clear endorsement of the policy direction of President Bola Tinubu’s administration, particularly its “Renewed Hope Agenda.” Abiodun extended congratulations to President Tinubu, the APC National Chairman, Professor Nentawe Yilwatda, and the party’s successful candidates.

The Governor projected that the local government victory signals a trend for the 2027 general election. “No doubt, the outcome of the area council polls at the FCT has shown clearly that Nigerians are fully aligned with President Bola Tinubu and the APC, and will again demonstrate this during the 2027 general election,” part of the statement read. It added that the result indicates the majority of Nigerians believe the nation’s future is secure under APC governance.

The FCT area council elections are a key political test, with the territory’s diverse electorate often providing an indicator for national political sentiment. Governor Abiodun’s interpretation frames the local results as a significant morale boost for the ruling party and a validation of its federal agenda ahead of the next electoral cycle.
