Adamawa State Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri has congratulated his Osun State counterpart, Ademola Adeleke, on his victory in the recent governorship election, describing the outcome as a clear reflection of the will of the electorate and their desire for continued progress.

In a statement released on Sunday by his Chief Press Secretary, Humwashi Wonosikou, Fintiri said the result underscored the people’s demand for continuity, good governance, and leadership that prioritizes their welfare. “I heartily congratulate Senator Ademola Adeleke on this well-deserved victory. I have no doubt that he will continue to deliver on his mandate to transform Osun State and improve the lives of its citizens,” Fintiri said.

The Adamawa governor also seized the opportunity to commend President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for what he described as an unwavering commitment to democratic norms throughout the election. “I must commend President Tinubu for standing on the side of democracy. By not interfering with the outcome of the process and by ensuring that the right thing was done, he has proven himself to be a true democrat,” Fintiri stated.

According to Fintiri, the principle of respecting voters’ choices, irrespective of political leanings, remains fundamental to the maturation of Nigeria’s democracy. He called on all political actors and critical stakeholders in Osun to accept the verdict of the polls, put aside partisan differences, and rally behind the governor in the collective task of advancing the state.

The statement further revealed that Fintiri prayed for wisdom, strength, and divine guidance for Adeleke as he continues to pilot the affairs of Osun State. The gesture, coming from a fellow governor of the opposition Peoples Democratic Party, highlights a growing emphasis on statesmanship and cross-party acknowledgment of credible electoral outcomes.

As the political dust settles, the focus in Osun is expected to shift fully to governance, with citizens anticipating the fulfillment of campaign promises and sustained development across key sectors. Fintiri’s message reinforces the expectation that democratic victories should translate into tangible benefits for the people.
