The Ekiti State House of Assembly Speaker, Adeoye Aribasoye, has urged Chef Damilola Adeparusi, popularly known as Chef Dammy to keep her focus on breaking the world record for the longest time spent cooking. Despite criticisms in some quarters, especially on social media, Aribasoye has motivated Chef Dammy to pursue her ambition.
The Speaker’s Special Adviser (Media), Odunayo Ogunmola, released a statement stating that Chef Dammy’s ambition is legitimate and should be encouraged rather than criticized. He added that Nigerians should commend her audacity to break new grounds and provide competition for the previous mark in a cook-a-thon.
Aribasoye described Chef Dammy as a role model to Ekiti youths and a worthy Ekiti ambassador who is positively projecting the image of the state. Her attempt at a world record in cook-a-thon has placed Ekiti on a global map and attracted attention to the Land of Honour.
The Speaker goes on to say that he wants to motivate Chef Dammy to remain focused and not pay attention to side talks and criticisms from some quarters. He referenced the biblical story of David and Goliath, stating that even David’s biological brothers opposed him, but he remained resolute until he conquered Goliath and achieved victory for his nation.
Aribasoye emphasized that Chef Dammy is an Ekiti ambassador who represents the state’s core values of integrity, hard work, enterprise and industry. He urged Nigerians and members of the global community to continue to encourage her to achieve her aim of cooking for 120 hours non-stop, which she believes is achievable.
