Twelve talented coaches from around the world have thrown their hats into the ring for the coveted position of head coach of the Super Eagles, Nigeria’s national football team. The Nigeria Football Federation recently announced the vacancy after the departure of former coach Jose Peseiro. Among the notable applicants are former Golden Eaglets and Tanzania coach, Emmanuel Amuneke, ex-Super Eagles head coach, Sunday Oliseh, and one of Peseiro’s former assistants, Finidi George. Also in the running are Nigerian-American Michael Nsien, currently coaching the US U-19 team, Sylvanus Okpala, a former assistant under Stephen Keshi, and former head coach Samson Siasia. Rounding out the list of applicants are Daniel Amokachi, Ndubuisi Egbo, Salisu Yusuf, and Portuguese coach Antonio Conceicao. With such a diverse pool of candidates, the NFF has a tough decision ahead as they aim to appoint a new head coach before the Super Eagles’ crucial 2026 World Cup qualifiers against South Africa and Benin Republic in June. Stay tuned as the football world eagerly awaits the announcement of who will lead Nigeria’s national team to glory in the upcoming tournaments.
