Ezza North Youths Rally for Young Leaders in Upcoming Local Elections

In a bold move towards political rejuvenation, the youths of Ezza North local government area in Ebonyi State have declared their intention to bring younger leaders into office, sidelining what they describe as ‘old and selfish politicians.’ This comes as the Ebonyi State Independent Electoral Commission (EBSIEC) announces the local government elections scheduled for July 20, 2024.

During a visit to the state Commissioner for Environment, Victor Chukwu, the youth leaders, Emeka Nwokporo and Polycarp Obinna Alegu, voiced their concerns about persistent poor governance attributed to the older generation of politicians in Ezza North. They credited these leaders with the area’s status as one of the most underdeveloped in the state, lacking significant projects and initiatives.

The group, firm in their resolve, argued that the successful policies of the state governor, Rt Hon Bldr Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru, should be mirrored in Ezza North to foster balanced development across Ebonyi State. They expressed a unanimous desire for visionary young candidates who can catalyze positive change and align with the governor’s “people’s charter of needs.”

With the upcoming elections, Ezza North’s youth are set to reshape their political landscape, advocating for leadership that promises progress and inclusivity. Their call for change underscores a broader movement among the youth in Nigeria seeking more significant involvement in political processes and decision-making.
