West Brom’s Josh Maja Celebrates Resilience with Goal-Scoring Form

West Bromwich Albion manager Carlos Corberán has lavished praise on Nigerian striker Josh Maja, commending his unwavering dedication and perseverance. The 24-year-old has overcome a disappointing 2022-23 season marred by injuries to emerge as a key player for the Baggies in the current campaign.

Maja’s impressive form continued over the weekend, as he scored his fifth goal of the season in West Brom’s 3-1 win over Portsmouth. This feat has placed him alongside Manchester City’s Erling Haaland as the top scorers in the top four divisions in England. Corberán expressed his admiration for Maja’s hard work, saying, “We know he is an important player for us. We couldn’t enjoy Josh too much last year because he had two injuries in the same place.”

The West Brom manager attributed Maja’s success to his tireless efforts during the off-season, which allowed him to arrive at the current level. Corberán emphasized, “He worked very hard when the rest of the team was resting to arrive into the season at the level he is right now. Normally in life things are not coincidences, they are consequences of things. His mentality, his commitment, and hard work are now giving him the consequences.”

Maja’s resurgence has been a welcome development for West Brom, as the team looks to maintain their push for promotion to the Premier League. With his impressive goal-scoring form and Corberán’s endorsement, Maja is set to continue playing a crucial role for the Baggies in the remainder of the season.
