NDE begins management training for 65 artisans in Delta

The National Directorate of Employment has commenced a management training for 65 artisans in Asaba, the Delta State capital.

The Director General of NDE, Mr Abubarkar Fikpo, said the training would last for five days.

Fikpo, who was represented by the acting Director of NDE Delta State, Mr Sylvanus Onyeogo, said the training was part of its efforts to address the menace of business failure.

He said, “Basic business training was designed by the NDE to train artisans and school leavers on rudimentary aspects of business management skill.

“This was because being highly skilled in a vocation does not preclude a micro business operator from failure but with acquisition of business management skill.

“The training is part of the efforts of the Directorate to address the menace of business failure created as a result of lack of managerial skills by entrants into the informal sector”

In her remark, the Head of Department, Small Scale Enterprises, Ms Chikodi Ike, commended the beneficiaries for their doggedness in attending the training saying, “It is not easy for you at this point in time considering the economic situation in Nigeria.”
