Insecurity: APC, PDP don’t care about Nigerians - ADC

The African Democratic Congress (ADC) is drafting a code of ethics for its leaders and candidates as it prepares for Nigeria’s 2027 general elections. Mallam Nasir El‑Rufai, former Kaduna State governor and ADC chieftain, said this initiative reflects the party’s commitment to lasting change. Speaking to journalists in Gusau, El‑Rufai condemned President Bola Tinubu’s administration as deceitful, corrupt and insincere, and highlighted that the ADC’s constitution is unique among Nigerian parties for its emphasis on ethical leadership.

The party’s leadership is currently working on a code of ethics that will be signed by all leaders and elected officials, mandating good governance, transparency and accountability. The code will prohibit the diversion of public funds, bribery and corruption. El‑Rufai added that, should the ADC win power, only credible and honest members will receive appointments, with 40 percent of positions reserved for young people. He warned supporters to be wary of impostors seeking to divide the party, noting that the ruling party will not relinquish power easily.

In a related development, the ADC held a stakeholders’ meeting in Zamfara, organized by the party’s deputy national organizing secretary, to strengthen unity among members and encourage voter registration and acquisition of voter cards. This effort is part of the party’s strategy to build a solid foundation for the upcoming elections.

The ADC’s push for ethical leadership and good governance comes at a time when Nigeria is grappling with corruption and transparency issues. As the 2027 general elections approach, the party’s commitment to change and accountability is likely to resonate with voters seeking a new direction. With its focus on ethical leadership and youth empowerment, the ADC is positioning itself as a viable alternative to the current administration.
