2027: Peter Obi may lose opportunity to be our candidate - Labour Party Secretary

The Lagos State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has warned the opposition to refrain from distracting President Bola Tinubu with “needless politicking and manufactured drama.” State spokesman Seye Oladejo said the nation’s challenges should be the focus, not political maneuvering. His remarks respond to the African Democratic Congress’s (ADC) recent call for former Labour Party presidential candidate Peter Obi to decide whether to join a coalition.

Oladejo emphasized that the 2027 elections should not be about “confused coalitions or political experiments” but about prepared leadership. He noted that the APC, as the ruling party, is confident in its achievements across infrastructure, the economy, security and social investment, and that these accomplishments will speak for themselves when the time is right. By contrast, he argued, the opposition offers only “recycled slogans and empty promises.”

The opposition appears to be struggling with internal disagreements, evident in the public feud between the ADC and Obi. Oladejo described Obi’s approach as waiting for the right moment to strike, likening him to a “panther” stalking distressed political parties. He characterized this strategy as more of a “political lottery” than a genuine attempt at organization.

The APC remains focused on governance, economic recovery and national renewal under President Tinubu’s leadership. As the 2027 elections approach, the party is poised to highlight its achievements and present a clear vision for the country’s future. With the opposition in disarray, the APC is confident that its message will resonate with Nigerians. The upcoming elections will be a crucial test for both the ruling party and the opposition as they vie to shape the nation’s trajectory.
