The Kogi State House of Assembly has passed the 2026 Appropriation Bill into law, following a thorough review process that included public participation and legislative scrutiny. The bill was initially presented to the House by Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo, after which it underwent a public hearing that allowed civil society organizations, stakeholders, and citizens to examine and contribute to the budget framework.
According to Mr. Olawumi Jacob, Chairman of the House Committee on Budget Monitoring and Appropriation, the public hearing stage enabled stakeholders from across the state to scrutinize the budget lines. Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDAs) also appeared before the committee to defend their proposed allocations, ensuring a detailed budget defense session.

The House adopted the committee’s report, leading to the passage of the budget into law after deliberations. Once passed, the budget becomes binding, with no additions or removals allowed.
The 2026 appropriation is themed “Budget of Shared Prosperity for Sustainable Development” and is designed to benefit all residents of Kogi State.
