APC Convention under Renewed Hope: 8,453 Delegates Nationwide

APC Announces 8,453 Delegates for National Convention, Emphasizes Inclusivity and Security

The All Progressives Congress (APC) will convene its long-awaited National Convention in Abuja with a confirmed total of 8,453 delegates representing all six geopolitical zones. The announcement was made by the Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris, during a World Media Briefing on Thursday.

Minister Idris stated the delegate composition underscores the party’s national spread, organisational strength, and commitment to inclusivity. He linked the event directly to the governance agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration, noting the convention reflects the party’s “democratic maturity” and reinforces its dedication to advancing national development under the Renewed Hope Agenda.

Addressing logistical concerns, the minister assured that all arrangements are complete to accommodate every accredited delegate without exception. He described the party’s budgeting as having a “self-adjusting mechanism” to ensure no participant is excluded. Furthermore, he reported that the movement of delegates and committee members to the capital has been “seamless and incident-free,” attributing this to an improving national security environment and ongoing infrastructure projects.

A fully equipped media centre will be operational at the venue to facilitate coverage. Minister Idris announced that accreditation will be granted to all registered media organisations, inviting journalists to ensure Nigerians are “adequately informed.” He urged the press to practice responsible, honest, and national-interest-focused reporting, emphasizing that “Nigeria remains at the heart of everything we do.”

The briefing was attended by several top government officials and party dignitaries, including the Ministers of Arts, Culture, Tourism and Creative Economy, Hannatu Musawa, and Aviation and Aerospace Development, Festus Keyamo, alongside senior presidential advisers and APC Central Committee leadership.

The National Convention is a critical organisational event for the ruling party, typically involved in key leadership elections and policy direction. This high-turnout, centrally coordinated gathering is positioned as a demonstration of APC unity and preparedness to continue its governance mandate, with media access framed as a cornerstone of transparency under the renewed hope framework.
