Tambuwal accuses Tinubu of undermining opposition parties

Senator Aminu Waziri Tambuwal, the former Governor of Sokoto State and a prominent figure in the African Democratic Congress (ADC), has outlined the key priorities the party intends to pursue if it assumes power in 2027. In a recent conversation with journalists following the party’s state congress, Tambuwal emphasized that security would be the immediate priority of an ADC-led administration. He underscored that without addressing insecurity through strategic, technological, and community-based approaches, meaningful development would remain elusive.

Following security, economic reform will be a significant focus, with measures aimed at alleviating hardship and tackling unemployment, particularly among young Nigerians. Tambuwal stated that the party plans to enhance job creation, support small and medium enterprises, and promote economic diversification. Additionally, education and agriculture will be critical pillars of the administration’s agenda. He committed to sustained investment and reforms in education to foster long-term development, while positioning agriculture to enhance food security and generate employment opportunities.

Power supply is another major focus area for Tambuwal, who noted that reliable electricity is essential for industrial growth and overall economic productivity. The overarching goal of the ADC, he stated, is to build a responsive and accountable government dedicated to improving the daily lives of Nigerians.

Addressing concerns about potential internal disputes within the ADC, particularly regarding the emergence of a presidential candidate, Tambuwal acknowledged that such challenges are inherent in the democratic process of any growing political party. He recognized that competition for leadership positions is inevitable but emphasized the party’s commitment to democratic principles. Where possible, the ADC will seek consensus among stakeholders, while established primary election processes will be utilized when consensus cannot be achieved. Tambuwal expressed confidence that with transparency, fairness, and a shared commitment to the party’s objectives, internal competition would ultimately strengthen the ADC rather than weaken it.
