Former House Speaker’s Seat Declared Vacant by New Incumbent

On Wednesday, the seat of Femi Gbajabiamila, the former Speaker of the House of Representatives, was declared vacant by the new incumbent, Tajudeen Abbas.

Gbajabiamila had resigned from his post, having been appointed as the Chief of Staff to President Bola Tinubu. In his resignation letter, he stated that he would no longer serve as a member of the 10th House of Representatives.

The House received the letter and declared the Surulere Lagos Constituency seat vacant as read out by Abbas during the plenary. Gbajabiamila was then praised for his commitment and service to the House and the people of his federal constituency.

This development has caused mixed reactions among Nigerians, with some praising Gbajabiamila for his dedication while others have expressed concerns over the potential political ramifications of his resignation.

As a result, there has been an increased scrutiny of Abbas and his plans for the House. However, the new incumbent has expressed his commitment to the people and his determination to build on the great work that has been done by his predecessor.

Despite the challenges that lie ahead, many Nigerians remain optimistic that the House will continue to move forward and make positive changes for the betterment of the country.
