Nkemanma Kama, the incumbent representative for the Ohaozara‑Onicha‑Ivo (Ohanivo) Federal Constituency, has been confirmed as the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate for the upcoming general election.

Speaking moments after the party primary, Kama thanked party officials, supporters and the state leadership for the renewed mandate to contest. “I am elated and grateful for the opportunity to serve my people again,” he said, adding that he also thanked the governor for his steadfast support and God for the chance to continue his work.

Kama highlighted the large turnout at the primaries, describing it as a preview of the enthusiasm he expects nationwide. “What we saw today is just a glimpse of what will happen on election day,” he asserted, suggesting the primary’s voter mobilisation was “a piece of cake” compared with the forthcoming contest.

The lawmaker pledged that a second term would bring accelerated development and expanded opportunities for the constituency. Emphasising the value of seniority in the House, he noted, “A ranking member is a ranking member; you can’t buy that in the market.” Kama said the state governor, a former parliamentarian, understands the importance of retaining experienced lawmakers to attract projects and funding.

Ebonyi State Commissioner for ICT, Tochukwu Okorie, also addressed the gathering, interpreting the long‑line of supporters as evidence of confidence in the APC. “When you see the crowd waiting since morning, it shows they are happy and satisfied with the party,” he remarked, dismissing speculation about strong opposition challenges.

The primaries recorded a significant turnout of APC faithful in Ohanivo, setting the tone for what is expected to be a closely watched general election. As the campaign season gathers momentum, the contest will test the party’s ability to translate primary enthusiasm into broader electoral support across Ebonyi State and beyond.
