American tennis pro Taylor Fritz recently stepped away from the court to try his hand at pickleball, facing YouTuber David Dobrik in a match posted to Dobrik’s Instagram story. Fritz’s impressive skills left the YouTuber admitting he got “spanked” by the professional tennis star. Although outplayed, Dobrik’s effort was notable, prompting Fritz to suggest he consider trying tennis.
Dobrik first rose to fame on Vine before transitioning to YouTube, where he is known for comedic vlogs, pranks and challenges. He frequently collaborates with celebrities, including Fritz, as part of his content.
Fritz is slated to headline Team World’s squad at the 2025 Laver Cup, scheduled for September 19‑21 at the Chase Center in San Francisco. The tournament, which pits the world’s top players against Europe’s best, will be held on the U.S. West Coast for the first time. Currently ranked fifth in the world, Fritz will be joined by Alex de Minaur, Francisco Cerúndolo, João Fonseca, Alex Michelsen and Reilly Opelka.
The Laver Cup, inaugurated in 2017, has quickly become a premier tennis event, attracting many of the sport’s top competitors. Fritz made his Laver Cup debut in 2019 and has expressed enthusiasm for the team aspect, citing the “team energy and team chemistry” as key draws. He will play under the guidance of team captain Andre Agassi, whose insight and expertise are expected to benefit the squad.
With the 2025 Laver Cup approaching, fans are eager for the tournament’s exciting matches and intense competition. As Team World seeks to reclaim the title after last year’s loss, Fritz and his teammates are determined to deliver a strong performance and leave their mark on the event.
